Kahului is a central town that I go to about once a week for our grocery shopping at Costco or any other various needs. It takes me about 45 minutes to get to from where we live. That town also holds the airport, Walmart, K-mart, Sports Authority, Sears, Old Navy etc etc. Sometimes it's frustrating to drive almost an hour just to get groceries but it always turns out to be cheaper than shopping at the stores close by.
One day we were feeling pretty adventurous and decided to take the long road to Kahului. And it was definitely long! The road was very windy and narrow so most of the time there wasn't enough room for oncoming traffic and passing cars was a little scary! We pulled off at a really cool spot! The ground was soooo bumpy and we didn't even have to use the 4 wheel drive! :) The views were incredible!!!

Then we continued to drive further and came upon a rad smoothie shack that overlooked a village in the valley. They had the coolest spot to set up shop! :) We got a couple smoothies to share and they were delish!!!
After more twisty roads, amazing views of the mountains and endless blue ocean scenery we finally made it to town after a 2 hour drive!! I don't think we will be taking the long way to Kahului anytime soon... :)
